Chez Paree personalities: My late husband, Artie Stanley, one
of The Dunhills, performed many times there with The
Vagabonds, Nat King Cole, and the final show with Joey Bishop.
I was great friends with Chet Roble and his wife, Ginny, who
also performed there. She was a Chez Paree "Adorable Chorus
Line" and Chet was a jazz pianist in the Key Room, along with
Ernie Harper.
Artie Stanley (The Dunhills) - I was at the Vagabond Club
with Ginny Roble and at the end of the show Tilio Rizzo joined
us at the bar and invited us to go to a jazz spot, and asked
if I minded if he brought along a friend, who turned out to be
Art Stanley, who a year and a half later became my husband.
We were married 40 years and have a daughter, Marda. Artie was
the greatest thing that happened to me in my life. Everyone
that he ever met liked and loved him including all the super
stars. He passed away in Feb. 1997.
Answer: Dear Hazel: We both met
Artie at the Vagabond Club!!! I believe I remember Ginny
Roble. She used to go to the Pinup/Grate on Miami Beach.
Jerry Brandow played there and they were friends. Jerry and
I spent a lot of time together. He's on my site also. I
believe we used to go to Jenny's house after the club closed
around two or three in the am. wow! are you bringing back
the memories.
Regards again, Sam

Dear Sam,
This is Suzy Barber, Don Barber's wife
and Hazel is visiting us for a few days so we got on the
internet and found your website and decided to contact you.
Don was also in The Bellboy but the part he had was taken
over by Jerry Lewis, and he landed "on the cutting room
floor", as they say. However he still gets residuals from
it, and just got a check the other day -- for $6.00. How's
that for fame?
You may also recall Don who was on TV in
Miami and Atlanta, and had a popular program, "The Don and
Bob SHow" with Bob Clayton. While writing his autobiography
and going over old times with Hazel it brought up a lot of
memories. Thanks for adding to some of them.

Raymond Young and the Youngins - My father was a "pioneer" in
the early days of Miami Beach. He had an orchestra and played
at "Martha Raye's"' club, and many of the casinos from that
day. He also played for Al Capone, etc. He performed at the
White House Hotel on Ocean Drive where he met my mother. He
met Eddie Cantor in New York who wanted to perform his music,
but my father could not pay him his "fee". My father's
orchestra also played "Roseland" in New York. Do you have any
information on my Dad, Raymond Young?
thanks
